Introductory Remarks

WELCOME

to my SDAIE Portfolio.

Here you find a sample of the coursework I completed for the SDAIE training. This work took place in late June 2012 with the exception of the classroom work done with students in the following school year 2012 - 2013. SDAIE is an acronym for Specially Developed Academic Instruction for English.   SDAIE is designed for the EL or English Learner student as a means to enhance his/hers English Proficiency through the use of  specially designed and developed techniques.

My background is as an educator, a camp directory and a professional musician.  I have been teaching in a college setting at Grossmont College for over 21 years and am now if my fourth year as a high school educator at Point Loma High in San Diego California.  I teach both Introduction to Music Production Technology and Computerized Graphic Design through the department of College, Career and Technical Education. Teaching in a manner that uses both groups and hands on projects know as PBL (project based learning) the SDAIE training gave me more resources and tools to include in my teachers bucket to help non english speaking or non english fluent students become better learners and more comfortable in the classroom environment.
