Title: Song / Vocabulary Bingo (Literacy Focus)
Task #1: One student passes out bingo cards as students enter the classroom.
Students are excited to do something different which to them, seems like a game. A break from the regular routine.
Task #2 She gives them instructions to take the cards to the white board and write the words listed on the board onto their sheet in any order they like.
Insite. Having the students right up on the board blocked other students from seeing the list. I should have insisted on sitting down or at least not being right up on the board.
Task #3 Students help one another in making sure they have all the words listed. Non english speaking students are helped by bilingual students.
Students recheck their work for accuracy
Task #4 Students circle the class room checking their list with one another.
Task #5 A song is played that contains all of the words and the students mark off the words as they hear them in the song. If no one gets the words in a row marked off, which happened, the song is played again and again until someone gets 5 in a row.
Task #6 The winner yells bingo and get's a treat. Then the song is played again and again until everyone has their sheet filled in.
A happy and fun class of students.
